DM Training Program Overview Dungeon Monitors (DMs, sometimes referred to as Play/Safety Monitors) are like the lifeguards of the kink world. There aren't enough of them! Many parties rely on these generous volunteers for:
We have created a DM Training Program to help fill that gap. The Program consists of four pieces (details below):
DM Training Program Details Dungeon Monitor Training Workshop Saturday, September 6th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dana and Viktoria will teach you the DM basics through lecture, hands on training, group exercises and our play monitor's manual, The Black Rose Safety Monitor's Training Guide.
Presented by Lady Viktoria, BENT's Chief DM (Taught by a kink-aware trainer!) A two day St John Ambulance course that covers the skills needed to recognize and provide intervention for life-threatening emergencies until medical help arrives. This course incorporates the maximum level of cardiopulmonary respiration (CPR) training. This is an Occupational Health & Safety approved course that covers the following topics:
Shadowing Newly trained DMs will have three opportunities to work alongside an experienced DM. This gives the DM-in-Training an opportunity to see what a DM does at the play party without having to commit to volunteering to be on a shift without any experience. Each DM-in-Training will be offered to shadow at BENT, Fetish4Play and other play parties in need of DMs. Mentoring As soon as the DM workshop is completed, an experienced DM is selected to act as a mentor (or buddy) to each DM-in-Training. The mentor will be available to the DM-in-Training to answer questions, run scenarios or shadow at any time, not just at kink events, since questions aren't always confined to being in a play context. If you are willing to act as a DM Mentor, please contact us! We welcome your questions or feedback as this Program evolves. |
